AvL's engineers have decades of experience with Fixed Earth Stations (FES), and carbon fiber, and many AvL customers have requested AvL antennas with fixed configurations. So it was a logical progression for AvL to design a new family of FES with carbon fiber and carbon fiber composite reflectors. Most FES in use today are made with stretched aluminum reflectors, which expand and contract with temperature changes and can misshape - and lose gain - in extreme heat. AvL's new FES antennas are unique with carbon fiber and carbon fiber composite reflectors, which can tolerate extreme heat. AvL's reflectors will remain stable with temperatures up to 350°F.
