Jack Gurney Joins AvL as VP of Engineering

Jim Oliver, President and CEO of AvL Technologies, Inc. recently announced that Jack Gurney has joined AvL as Vice President of Engineering, joining the senior management team consisting of Mike Proffitt, Executive VP/Chief Operating Officer, Mary Lynne Woro, VP/Director of Marketing, Steve McGuinness, VP/Director of Sales, and Esther Cartwright, Controller.

Gurney will be responsible for the continued development of the innovative products with technical excellence for which AvL has become noted.   He will also manage engineering for the vast existing product line of mobile satellite antennas ranging in size from 75cm to 2.4m for vehicles and in flyaway configurations.

Jack Gurney has been involved in the design and manufacture of microwave frequency antennas for over 25 years and was formerly Vice President of Engineering for Radiation Systems, Inc., now a part of the Vertex/RSI Division of General Dynamics.   He was one of the Chief Technical Advisors with ComSat/Lockhead Martin on the 100 meter Green Bank telescope antenna and was responsible for final technical acceptance by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.   Gurney is a Registered Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Polytechnical Institute (VPI) and a Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics degree from Penn State University.
