AvL Technologies was featured in a story on WLOS News 13. The topic is “News 13 Investigates: The cost of a living wage (Part 4)” and reporter Karen Zatkulak interviewed Mike Proffitt last week for it. Because AvL is Living Wage Certified – and because of Jim’s AvL Technology Park BHAG, which was developed to attract new tech companies and good jobs to Asheville – the Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission recommended that WLOS include AvL in the story. AvL in the News: AvL Employee Willie Pulley Featured in WLOS Report on Motorcycle Safety

AvL employee Willie Pulley was featured in a recent report on Asheville's News 13 WLOS on motorcycle safety. Willie was interviewed about a recent accident, during which he was stopped and hit by a car. As Willie was struck from behind and pushed into the car in front of him, he maneuvered his bike to lessen the impact. Willie claims that annually taking a Bike Safe NC class has taught him many valuable lessons and saved him from serious injury in the recent accident.

The United States Donates Three Mobile Emergency Response Centers to Uruguay

A recent article titled The United States Donates Three Mobile Emergency Response Centers to Uruguay in the Dialogo Digital Military Magazine caught our attention. It's a great story about U.S. Southern Command enabling emergency responders in Uruguay, and we were thrilled to see AvL antennas on the Mobile Emergency Response Centers (MERC). These impressive MERCs were built by IP Access International, Comprehensive Communication Services, and Chilcott, Inc. According to the article, the MERCs "are easy to transport, quick to deploy, and can be activated in less than 30 minutes, linking multiple satellite, radio and internet communications systems. Their generators allow them to operate autonomously for 7 to 10 days." Many thanks to IP Access Internatioal, Comprehensive Communication Services and Chilcott, Inc. for including AvL antennas on this important project!
